Unlocked mirror mode on Mario Kart World. Haven't really touched the open world much because it's boring as shit imo so it took a little while to get it. Unfortunately you don't seem to get anything for 100% completing anything in the game, but I still really want to get perfect marks on at least all of the Grands Prix including mirror mode.

@teto yeah I never thought the open world would be any good whatsoever and it really isn't. Some people are having a good time with it but that is not me. I wanted the game for the racing, and the racing is fun. The p switch missions can be fun and challenging, but all you get for doing them is stickers which are equally as pointless. You get stickers for hitting question panels and getting peach medallions too. So 3 different things you can do in the open world that all give you the same shit. It's the korok problem from botw/TotK all over again but far less useful. It's like they had this great idea for the race tracks to all connect to each other and exist in a world, but then they half-assed the world element. It would have been way better if they just copied need for speed's open world design wholesale. Make me drive to the races, give me money for collecting medallions that I can spend on karts or kart upgrades (or even stuff like costumes and paint jobs or extra characters) and I would have been much happier with it.

@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club I was really disappointed when I saw the trailer for the game; mostly because I'm soured about the BotW open world formula, so I didn't want another open world in Mario Kart. We have to wonder at this point if Nintendo has ran themselves into a corner with the existence of MK8DX. It feels like the ULTIMATE Mario Kart. Whenever my brothers and I get together, we sit down to play MK8 and Smash Bros for at least 5-6 hours. MK8 is definitely my most played Switch game and I really love it.

Nintendo also ran themselves into a corner with the existence of Mario Maker. The development of Mario Wonder was so hectic due to existence of Marker because that game was considered the ultimate 2D Mario experience. They were basically throwing any idea into a hat and trying to somehow incorporate it into Mario Wonder just so it could be slightly different than Maker.

This might be a hot take but I honestly feel that MK8DX was so complete, they should have just kept expanding on it with the Switch 2. I know people would have complained that the game is 10+ years old but if it ain't broke...
A 60 FPS for multiplayer would have been really nice. More Battle modes, too. They could have taken the tracks from World and added it to 8.
At this point, I don't see myself getting the Switch 2 unless a new Animal Crossing or Kid Icarus comes out. Nintendo is fucking up or doing too many changes to all franchises I care about. Zelda is no longer a console seller to me, for example, because I much prefer the linear style games.

Nintendo might pull a New Horizons with MK World, though. Meaning they will "fix" the game with patches but a negative first impression stays with the game forever. In the case of New Horizons, I felt they never fixed shit anyways. The whole game remains a Redditor screenshot simulator to me. Hoping they will unfuck the franchise and go back to the roots more.

@veru it's not to say the game is bad by any means, just that the open world gimmick is bad.

I would say that waiting for the next direct and/or metroid prime 4 is going to be the best thing to do for most people when considering a switch 2. Definitely not worth buying right now. Buuuut I am still enjoying playing it. Personally I am really waiting for the Kirby upgrade and Air Riders.

@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club Oh yeah, Kirby Air Riders might do it for me. :hmm: Just waiting to see more since the trailer barely counted as one.

It depends if the online is decent. The goat Sakurai is working on it, so I have high hopes. Competitive Kirby Air Ride might become more popular.

@veru i don't mind if it has online or not but that would definitely be a selling point.

i learned about this only like a year ago, a recreation of kirby air ride that can be played online: airmodo-en.wikidot.com/

@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club wtf
This is so random but AMAZING
