Reddit fags love to cite the sex abuse statistics of the Catholic Church, but they'll never ever mention the sex abuse statistics of the public school system, which dwarfs the church's by an order of magnitude. Not saying there isn't a problem in the church, but it's usually not brought up in good faith.

@Hoss @RealRaul something that was brought up from that chart is that there are WAY more school faculty members than there are catholic priests, as well as more kids in the school system. The graph isn't per capita. I would be interesting in seeing that value instead. But yes both are obviously bad and need reform.

That's a good point, I would like to see the per capita numbers. I was treating those numbers as per capita but I see that the chart I shared is per 100,000, and there are more teachers than there are priests. If I were to make a bet, I'd still say the public schools are worse, but the spread would probably tighten somewhat. Abusers seek out any position of authority over children, be it in secular or religious institutions. Point is, it's not a corruption unique to the church.
