I feel inadequate almost all of the time. The only difference is whether I'm trying prove to myself I'm not inadequate or wallowing after I realize I am again.

That is the demonic torment directed at all men.
Our pride is constantly challenged to overcome.
But, adequacy is not required for Jesus's love.
And, Jesus came to save the inadequate.
Not just in the next life, but in this life.
Let the very taunts of your own inadequacy, become the reminder of your strength. That, the heavy burden of your life is not for you to carry, because your life is not your own.
When you give your life to Jesus, he carries it, and you. Thus the challenge to overcome, because a reminder that, for your part there is rest, for you have come to Jesus, and he handles the challenges, and gives you rest.
