I really really really hate jimmy kimmel but also lol the right can't take a joke, this is cancel culture run amok

@vriska@lizards.live also this is one of the few 100% objectively correct things he's said

@anemone I just wish that rightoids would admit they love cancel culture when it benefits them (this is how ALL USA political discourse works and it infuriates me. believe in something. i dont even care if I hate what you believe in. actually believe in it

@vriska @anemone I love attacking my enemies with the same thing I've been attacked with. And yes I literally have personally experienced it. I won't ever throw the first stone but I'll enjoy throwing it back.

@beardalaxy @anemone hypocrisy is a greater sin than a large majority of political beliefs real people actually have

@vriska@lizards.live @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club people who claim "i only did it because they did it to me first" usually have pretty selective memory too. Like all the online rightwingers who seem to think censorship didn't exist before gamergate

@anemone @vriska I would wager to say a massive amount of the right is not the same as the right in the 80s and 90s that was all about the satanic panic and violent video games shit. Myself and pretty much all the guys I know irl would have been considered liberals 20 years ago.

Unlike what the right censored back then, and what the left began to censor, what is being taken action against right now is not benign. It is pulling back the curtain on extremist viewpoints that wish death on a major portion of the population. I think that's a little different.

That being said, if anyone has a full clip of exactly what Jimmy said, I would love to see it. I don't know what was said exactly. There is such a thing as dark, edgy humor and if that is what he's getting in trouble for that's a different thing entirely. Poor taste, but still.

@beardalaxy @anemone @vriska Before Gamergate I basically was barely even an adult and wasn't even political in the slightest, I sure wasn't the one censoring anyone
@beardalaxy @anemone @vriska >I would wager to say a massive amount of the right is not the same as the right in the 80s and 90s that was all about the satanic panic and violent video games shit. Myself and pretty much all the guys I know irl would have been considered liberals 20 years ago.

I would wager to say that a massive amount of the right is exactly the same and you and your friends are just outliers.

@pettanko @anemone @vriska I think that group is mainly the older boomer cons, in and out of office, but even then I've seen a good amount of them come around over the years too. Anecdotes, I know, but that's really all either of us have.

@pettanko @anemone @vriska the main thing to consider is that because the left has gone further to the left it has left a lot of classic liberals more or less identifying with the right, which has become more lenient over time.

@Humpleupagus @anemone @beardalaxy i think its awesome that someone Hollow Points USA'd kirk and I hope someone kills Hasan or Stephen Colbert next >:)

Yeah. It's not hypocritical. Time is not static. We can change our minds. And We're tired. If the left wants to play in the mud, then don't bitch when we decide to jump in.

@Humpleupagus @anemone @beardalaxy I hate the USA left and USA right equally and as far as I'm concerned you're two sons of the same bitch

@Humpleupagus @anemone @vriska "oh, you need to have principles! Don't cancel the people who canceled you for far less than celebrating someone's assassination and saying they deserved it!"

It's this kind of shit that we have been putting up with to hold on to our principles for a very long time. It hasn't worked, clearly. Things continue to get worse because the principles are not the same across the board.

@beardalaxy @Humpleupagus @anemone I love whenever a thread like this starts anyone who disagrees with the point im making assumes im OTHER TEAM despite the fact I say I hate you both equally and think all USA politics are solely designed to destroy the USA for the benefit of Israel and about 10 companies

When I litigate, I always test opposing counsel to determine whether the litigation will be principled or not. If he fails that that test....

@Humpleupagus @anemone @beardalaxy unironically yes. trying to talk to people who can't/don't/refuse to try to understand what your position is because they think that politics is the NFL is a tremendous waste of time.

@vriska @Humpleupagus @anemone @beardalaxy To be fair the last guy that tried having an honest discussion with the left ended up catching a bullet in the neck...

@ForbiddenDreamer @anemone @Humpleupagus @beardalaxy to be fair there is something inherently darkly comedic about a guy who once said that shootings are the price we pay for the 2nd amendment getting shot underneath a huge banner that says PROVE ME WRONG on it

@vriska @ForbiddenDreamer @anemone @Humpleupagus there is, and there is also a dark irony in that he was answering a question about trans shooters, from somebody who was trying to debate him that the left wasn't violent, and we now know that was likely part of the motivation for the shooting. He was proven right in the shooting itself.

Idk if Charlie ever talked about gun issues beyond just protecting the second amendment, but guns are not the problem. We have probably the worst mental health of any country and the lowest amount of cultural homogeny. Plus, we let violent criminals just do whatever the fuck they want and get released from prison until they do something REALLY bad or die. There are a lot more broken things than just the amount of guns floating around here but the people who have those issues the most are the ones most unwilling to accept them.

@ForbiddenDreamer @anemone @Humpleupagus @beardalaxy @vriska and he was asked about transgender shooters too, and guess the circumstances of the shooting. lmfao
Let's say I'm defendant's counsel and I haven't yet appeared, i.e. filed a responsive pleading to a complaint. I may informally request some evidence, and not using formal discovery, to assist in preparation of the answer. The evidence would be something that would indisputably be discovered eventually anyway, so no real reason to object to informal production. If they say "no", then it's no holds barred.
The left has thoroughly convinced me the first amendment is absolute horseshit and was just as big if not a bigger mistake than democracy.
I just hate anyone who forces me into a position were I have to dispense with the niceties that make life pleasant. I don't like having to be that way, but I'm also experienced enough to know that pragmatism trumps principle when push comes to shove though.
Thats fair, I just have found that freedom of speech just gives perverts an out to run naked in the streets and display porn. Thousands of years you couldnt question your government or elites publicly and instead you beheaded them or tarred and feathered them instead. It gives a relief valve to actual dissident behavior.
The way I see it is if you at least kept your mouth shut on free speech, if when 'your guys' (politicians only serve themselves 99% of the time no one has 'guys') are in power you don't constantly cheer on other people having their speech curtailed, if you uphold your end of the bargain you should be left alone.

If you didn't it is going to be really hard for me to give a shit about you when the tables turn. In fact, I won't.

So when it comes to all these people that shrieked with delight over some rando dropping the gamer word on x-box live getting fired from their job it is hard for me to give a flying shit when they also shriek with delight at some guy getting shot and get fired for it. If anything I think it is too tame in certain instances but I'm not here to fed post.

Basically I am a quid pro quo kind of guy, with the caveat that if I already disliked you I'll escalate and if I feel bad for you I'd prefer to use kid gloves when retaliating.

But some of these comments I saw getting screencapped and archived are so innocuous it is baffling to me that people care even outside the free speech angle.

Is "I am afraid the right is going to retaliate" on the same level as "now kill his wife too"? One of these gets a response along the lines of "yeah you should be, keep your head down" and the other is against your instance rules for me to detail.
This wall of text is forbidden at the zoo, you will be executed by rape
"Heyo cracka I wanna bust dem faggots dat be fuckin' wit us but if dem yte gurls jus be flappin dhey gums idgaf"

I am not fluent in ebonics but as a native speaker I hope you find this adequate.
@Deplorable_Degenerate @anemone @Humpleupagus @beardalaxy @vriska the part where we find out most people on the horseshoe aren't popperian they just want to be the tyrant
@Humpleupagus @anemone @beardalaxy @vriska that is something I do not get, how people can be retarded enough to think that people's behaviour is static, rather than something that changes with response to your behaviour where actions have second and third order effects.

or that people are for some reason meant to sacrifice everything they have for an ideal but never ever ever ever use force against someone else for it.
Hope has a limit. Many people hoped the horse would drink the water. It didn't. So you shoot the lame horse.
