So Silent Hill F is quite literally just "woman moment" the game. That's unintentionally hilarious.

Plot spoilers I guess. If you play this shit I have no respect for you.

Turns out the whole thing is a fever dream and the bitch just OD'd on Tylenol and started hacking people up because she had shitty parents and doesn't want to get married or whatever.
Don't forget that the game was made from China and has Japanese characters and a Japanese setting and its plot and symbolism preach the "virtue" of not getting married or having kids because it will result in the loss of your "identity." And everyone who is a Silent Hill tourist is eating it up because it's not a Silent Hill game and it's Souls-lite in its combat structure.

Well... "China"(Hong Kong and Taiwan) but the story was written by the dude that wrote Higurashi. It honestly feels like a different IP that they knew was going to be dogshit so they slapped "Silent Hill" on it to sell some copies. "Silent Hill" is never uttered once in the game.

EVERY ENDING IS SHIT HOLY FUCK.

Normal ending: Hinako schizos out and kills two men at her wedding because Shu was drugging her to try to prevent the marriage.

Bad ending: Hinako doesn't take Shu's pills and truly becomes Foxnako (her part that accepts changing for society's expectations), Shu crashes the wedding, isn't okay with being friendzoned, gets a beating, then accepts the marriage seeing that Hinako actually wants to be with Fox Mask

(her IRL groom-to-be). Shu is okay with it as long as she is happy and they let him watch in a corner chair (fistbumping with Fox Mask watching the sunset).

Good ending: Fox Mask is actually an abusive guy and evil. Shu was right and crashes the wedding, runs away (platonically) with Hinako and is okay with being friendzoned.

True ending: Fox Mask is actually a good guy and doesn't want a forced marriage either because he wonders if his infactuation for her wasn't just his father forcing him to marry her, they both choose to call it off and run away, both want to experience more before settling down and hope to meet each other again in the future if their love is really "meant to be".
@Goalkeeper @Owl i haven't seen enough of the game to criticize the plot but holy fuck the combat is atrocious for a horror game

One of the first things I saw in the game was a monster pinning Hinako to the ground and you get a button prompt to do a double-leg kick that launches him across the room. he's at least four times her size. She's a tiny Japanese schoolgirl. Her limbs are like twigs. But somehow, when you're pinned down, she can pull a superhuman kick to launch something and then pull out a fucking polearm and start stabbing away like it's nothing?

I laughed when I saw that, because it didn't just shatter my immersion, it shattered any expectations it would be a horror game. A core component of effective horror is a sense of powerlessness communicated through gameplay. Whether it's turning slowly in Resident Evil or the stick combat in Silent Hill, the fear of losing a fight is a key aspect of genuine ludonarrative horror.

That bitch can squat 1,200 and launches enemies across the room and you want me to feel afraid? She can perfect dodge around attacks and counterattack with elegant flowing combos and you want me to feel afraid? Every aspect of the gameplay screams power/skill fantasy, from the combo system to the Rage of the Gods mode when she gets her arm power-up.

If the game wanted me to take it seriously as a horror game, when the bigger monster pins Hanako down, it should be for all intents and purposes a game over. It's a drawn-out pseudo-scripted death sequence where it beats on her until she dies. If you don't have a knife already in hand to stab the thing's face, you just die.

Or maybe it just does a bunch of damage and chooses to let you go of its own free will. Either case communicates "the player is weak, helpless, and in a dangerous situation," which is the core fucking experience of horror. A schoolgirl kicking enemies through walls while flash-stepping across the room is not horror.

Once this video I've been working on is done I really need to go back to that horror game I've been working on where getting slowly beaten to death by something you can't actually fight against followed by several minutes of passing out from pain and waking back up until you die of hypoxia from repeated vasovagal syncopes is a core gameplay experience.

@All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl >One of the first things I saw in the game was a monster pinning Hinako to the ground and you get a button prompt to do a double-leg kick that launches him across the room.

do you have a clip of this? xD i never saw that in the game at all. any time you get grabbed by an enemy there's just an animation that happens and you get a bunch of damage dealt to you before hinako is able to finally shake the thing off. no button prompt at all. maybe there's a cutscene where she does that i'm forgetting about though.

@beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl iirc it's what happens whenever you're grabbed and mash out of those big dude guys? idk look up a stream or youtube playthrough

@All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl oh okay you're talking about this: youtu.be/iyi-ncOXRzo?t=193

there's no button prompt, it's just an animation that plays out. he's not being shoved across the room either lol it's just a "get off me" move. heather in sh3 does similar stuff too i'm pretty sure.

and if you don't have enough health to survive the attack, she gets her head pummeled in to a pulp.

the polearm is a special weapon you get in the spirit realm, then there is also a katana and a lightsaber you can get in ng+, typical silent hill stuff, but every other weapon is just a mundane thing like a pipe or whatever. james can drag around and attack with the giant knife in sh2 somehow too lmao, these are video games, concessions will be made sometimes.

@beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl that video is absolutely across the room. in real life if a 14 year old girl does that, what the dude does is maybe have a bruise the next day. it's goofy as fuck.

>james can drag around and attack with the giant knife in sh2 somehow too lmao,
yeah and it takes like 2-3 seconds to actually swing the thing. it's completely impractical and reinforces how useless and weak he is. entirely different from "uses a polearm like its a soulslike" which reinforces COMPETENCE, not WEAKNESS, which undermines what makes horror effective
@beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl
i need to revisit this line because it's now obvious it's a brazen manipulative lie from an evil piece of shit
>the polearm is a special weapon you get in the spirit realm, then there is also a katana and a lightsaber you can get in ng+, typical silent hill stuff,
You are deliberately conflating bonus equipment designed to create catharsis and diffusion tension AFTER YOU COMPLETED the game with something designed to build tension that occurs DURING THE GAME. You are declaring two things that have one superficial similarity (are weapons in silent hill) are secretly the same thing in an attempt to manipulate and deceive because you're a disgusting human being! Please, do the world a favor and find a bridge to jump off.

Humans are trying to discuss something, we don't need you verbally shitting on the floor.

@All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl you only use the polearm in the spirit realm, which is either an actual spirit realm or a hallucinogenic representation of one. you aren't allowed to take it back with you.

this is a spoiler but none of you are actually going to play the game so i assume you won't care. when you're in the spirit realm in the latter half of the game, you literally get a BEAST ARM attached to you and are able to go beast mode and melt walls and shit.

you're talking about the game as you understand from some clips and maybe a review you've seen about a dude malding over it, i've actually played this game.

it is NOT a silent hill game. but trying to act like it is super woke because a woman (she's not 14 lmao) can push off a monster for a moment and use a polearm in a different reality in a VIDEO GAME is fucking insane.

@beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl i'm not reading this shit. you've already outed yourself as a lying evil retard. go fuck yourself.
@beardalaxy @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl
> but trying to act like it is super woke because a woman (she's not 14 lmao) can push off a monster for a moment and use a polearm in a different reality in a VIDEO GAME is fucking insane.

i wholeheartedly disagree

even if it SHOULD NOT be considered a silent hill game the fact still stands that it HAS the silent hill name attached to it officially meaning the people behind silent hill wanted to push this shit as a silent hill game.

in a series where protagonists have always been helpless to some degree, where part of the horror comes from the constant pressure of being physically frail and unnable to directly take on the bigger monsters at least in an effective and confidence inspiring way.

it's suspicious at best that after the ip staying dormant for so long it is revived in a game where the female protagonist gets what no other protag had, POWER

and it doesn't help the fact that the game portrays traditions in a bad light without a hint of possitivity
@rlier23 @beardalaxy @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl Like the many examples Beardalaxy shows in his initial posts are all characters that have a history or something, or get some powerups, or have training.

Actually, most female characters that are "girlbosses" and yet are liked, tend to have some mitigation to both their personalities and to ther skills. They are special in some way or another because of circumstances, so it's believable.
@Immahnoob @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl @beardalaxy

>Actually, most female characters that are "girlbosses" and yet are liked, tend to have some mitigation to both their personalities and to ther skills. They are special in some way or another because of circumstances, so it's believable.

oh absolutely

look no further than silksong

hornet is fucking great she's powerful, she's smart but she still has charisma and is not a bitch so she is easy to like

she never tries to patronize the player nor anyone she just is
@rlier23 @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl @beardalaxy Yep, and I find her reactions to the men trying to get into her pants in one way or another endearing. Fucking hilarious how she slaps the shit out of the bug that tries to kiss her.
@rlier23 @Immahnoob @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones The problem with most female characters, at least you know, the modern ones, is that they have trash personalities. You can have all the bullshit powers and ridiculous skill and strength, but if you have a character with a good personality you can kinda of forget how ridiculous it is and just enjoy the character. Most modern female characters are just generally assholes in almost all ways and so if you are a normal person you wish for their quick death so you can play as a, hopefully, better character.
@WhitestTemplar @rlier23 @Immahnoob @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones >personality
hits the nail on the head basically.
It IS about "suspension of disbelief" even if, like beard said, it's "just a video game". That's still a thing. You want the character to make sense and you want her to fit into the world. Rlier already called out the problem: She is too powerful in a world about powerLESSness. And intentionally a woman. This IS a message.
All stories, no matter how outlandish, rely on reality to explain themselves. The games previously said "People are almost powerless against these abominations" and someone else comes along, says "but this girl can beat them with the power of female independence!" it obviously clashes.
It didn't clash when JRPGs had female priests or magicians. LEFTISTS were actually the ones that said "akshually that's not historically accurate. Womyn were oppressed in those times! You're whitewashing history! And I don't like how she is beautiful and has big breasts!"

But the thing is: Those characters made SENSE. A supporting role and a beautiful character (woman) with a supportive, nurturing personality. That immediately works because you know that from real life. It just makes sense. Even if it is a fictional role in a fictional world and women resurrecting the dead isn't "realistic".
Hornet is the same way, believe it or not. IRL hornets literally are female and have a big-ass stinger in real life. It just makes sense.
So in the end, it IS about their ideological narrative. Always was.

And another thing. People LOVE women who are total bitches, too! These are called tsundere.
@WandererUber @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @WhitestTemplar @Owl @All_bonesJones Hinako's actually a divine child, so she is actually special in a way. The issue is that the Higurashi writer seems to think everything needs to be Higurashi, so everything is explained at the end.

Then you have to NG+ to actually get to the meat and potatoes, because it seems there's more to Hinako. While still feminist, they at least try to portray Hinako as the psychotic bitch she is.
@Immahnoob @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @WhitestTemplar @Owl @All_bonesJones >Hinako's actually a divine child, so she is actually special in a way.
I feel like you missed my point entirely when you say this. The writer MADE her be that. There is no difference between that and putting a black female special forces soldier in a WWII game and have her beat 100 guys. The only difference is the explanation.
What are they explaining though? Are they explaining why women are nice and supportive or are they explaining why they're total bitches who kill and hate men? That's the ideology at the core.

I don't intend this to say that they are that extreme with it in this game, but as I explained elsewhere I have no tolerance left for this kind of fence-sitting bs where they leave the feminist interpretation at least open. They know what they're doing.
@WandererUber @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @WhitestTemplar @Owl @All_bonesJones No, I didn't miss the point, I'm just saying that it's poorly portrayed, but there is an explanation for why she can beat the shit out of these monsters. And I disagree, not every explanation has the same value but an explanation is nonetheless important. Because the characters that you love, you wouldn't love if they DIDN'T have something to explain their prowess, be it implied or otherwise.

I will never believe an office worker be it male or female taking down a soldier in any game unless the soldier was on his last legs, the office worker took him by surprise or generally had some force multiplier. Still, all that is an explanation, it's necessary, I'm not a child anymore to just take everything at face value.
@Immahnoob @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @WhitestTemplar @Owl @All_bonesJones I think that's just personal preference. What I'm saying is both of these explanations are after the fact. The fact that they decided to make a game like that. So you can infer more from the things happening than their explanations.

For the office worker, there are stories like that. A ton actually. Especially in isekai. And the reason for having him do it is that these stories are wish fulfillment for the average Joe, not whatever secret powers the writers come up with.
Different way of looking at it.
@WandererUber @Immahnoob @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @WhitestTemplar @Owl @All_bonesJones yeah it may be a speed now but let it grow.and it Will become a worse problem than it already is

Then again, maybe Japan needs to go through its own feminist death cults arc the same way Korea did

That seems to have fixed that issue for koreans at least
@Immahnoob @WandererUber @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl @WhitestTemplar @beardalaxy
>they at least try to portray Hinako as the psychotic bitch she is.

To be fair i don't think thats intencional tho

Remember any other girlboss i'm recent times?

They act like fucking psychos but the writers don't SEE it that way
@rlier23 @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl @WandererUber @WhitestTemplar @beardalaxy Eh, it kinda is, a player would know this info in NG+: the father is in debt because he paid for a life-saving procedure for his wife, and had to sell his dream completely, hence his behavior, he doesn't actually want to just give Hinako away just like that but is forced by circumstances. He even apologizes to her and pleads with her not to think other men are like him, she doesn't accept because she's a psycho bitch.

In the first route, it seems that everyone is in the wrong around her, the family and even including her girlfriends, but you're slowly shown that Hinako is the problem, Shu is in love with her but she friendzoned him, the moment other girls give him attention, she gets pissed. Her girlfriends's only "sin" is that they're jealous of Hinako. As you can see, the family isn't actually the evil, abusive, pathetic thing that Hinako believes, she's just exaggerating everything.
@rlier23 @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl @WandererUber @WhitestTemplar @beardalaxy I will say it again though, the true ending and all the bullshit about the game's view on marriage and relationships are in NG+, it doesn't really change much because while Hinako isn't as glorified about her views and behavior, the game still ends up releasing her from Silent Hill and she still rejects traditionalism, so the game's still all about accepting modernity.

The story is blantantly anti-marriage and anti-natalist. In all if its endings. Even the UFO joke ending. Also the gameplay itself isn't even good.

@WandererUber @rlier23 @Immahnoob @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones Tsundere's are not just assholes though, they have layers, and underneath their rough exterior is an actual person with complexity to them. The characters I am talking do not have layers at all and tend to just be snarky assholes for the sake of it.
@WhitestTemplar @rlier23 @Immahnoob @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones I know. That's why I mentioned it. Because people have this surface level understanding of why "le chuds" don't like something
@Immahnoob @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl
>Like the many examples Beardalaxy shows in his initial posts are all characters that have a history or something, or get some powerups, or have training.
damn, it's almost like he's an evil liar running a smokescreen to support his beliefs and is one of your enemies pretending not to be and has to rely on lies to make a point

y'know like i said earlier
@All_bonesJones @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl Some people can't accept that they made a mistake, they'll defend purchases and bad decisions if they perceive they'll lose face otherwise.

Like I found it odd from like a few days ago when he said that the gameplay is good, like huh? It's a very bad Dark Souls clone with a Devil May Cry Devil Trigger in the end game. :cat_laugh:
@rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones I'd argue that Silent HIll 2 (original, not the shitty remake) does the exact opposite with its combat, deliberately, enemies are really weak, as unsettling as they are - James chases them around and beats the shit out of them, or blasts them with an abundance of ammo that would make RE2 blush...because practically all of them symbolize his sick, dying wife whom he murdered, but whatever.

I just want to drop in and say that I really think attributing malice or agenda to the more over the top action elements of SHf is ridiculous, a lot of takes on this game from people who haven't played it at all border on hysteria. Call it incompetence because it results in the game not being scary, at all, that I'd agree with.
@LittleTom @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl i didn't attribute malice or agenda to the over-the-top action elements of SHf, i just said repeatedly that over-the-top action elements are anathema to horror-through-gameplay

hitting dodge and flash stepping across the room is goofy as fuck. i used that fucking move to cheese out malenia's waterfowl dance, do you think i feel scared while i've got a crutch that powerful?
@All_bonesJones @rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl Yeah the game is ridiculously not scary. The funniest shit to me is that HInako will always (like 100% of the time?) say something the moment you kill an enemy. Like the game doesn't even let you think that they might not be dead.
@LittleTom @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones i refuse to call it incompetence

We're talking about leftoids, the same mutants that think men spreading their legs when sitting is done on PURPOSE to opress women

We have seen from Capcoms leaks that making clothing and armors more "gender neutral" is one stated objective as innocuos as that might seems at first

The fucking japs have been infected and they are so docile theyll just lap it up most of the time

I refuse theres being just incompetence here, theres is malice
@rlier23 @beardalaxy @Goalkeeper @Owl @All_bonesJones Yeah I think this is just a completely off base read on the game that you would be embarrassed to have if you actually played it. This isn't even a "dude trust me it makes sense if you play all the way to the end 3 times" thing, these misconceptions you have about the tone could be dispelled within 1-2 hours of playing it.

It's also the sort of thing that requires one to pretend that Silent Hill 3 hadn't already come out, 21 years ago.
@rlier23
https://www.dbltap.com/features/silent-hill-f-interview-gender-discrimination

The Devs know it's woke and made it that way on purpose.

People are allowed to like it in spite of that. People don't have to defend themselves for liking it.

But shit is woke even if it's slightly less hamfisted about how it displays that than we're used to.
@beardalaxy @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl
@Beefki @rlier23 @All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl @beardalaxy
>People are allowed to like it in spite of that. People don't have to defend themselves for liking it.
i disagree, this piece of shit has absolutely dogshit gameplay, its a shit """horror""" game, and the story is a stupid mess with huge amount of leftist propaganda... there's literally nothing likable in this shit and the ones that likes it are retards :jahy_disgust:

If the gameplay was at least good, I could understand. But it's the same gay retard 3rd-person-over-the-shoulder-pseudo-GoW/TLoU action combat shit that every creatively bankrupt slop game poorly implements. It's a shitty action game. Like all of the others.
