man, cyberpunk 2077 is really cpu intensive these days huh? gpu is sitting at a nice 30% usage and my frames are nice and fucked. crazy bottleneck there. i played it back at launch with a gtx 1080 and an i5-6600k at almost the same exact settings i'm using now with a 2080ti and an i5-10600k. looks like the new recommended cpu is an i7-12700k though.

looks like my next upgrade is a cpu, but i've known that for a while. only thing i'm worried about is that my gpu could explode at any moment, it's a miracle that thing is holding on to life still lol.

@beardalaxy Why has performance gotten worse?

Isn't the opposite supposed to happen over a game's lifetime, assuming no new content is added?

@Jens_Rasmussen new content was added lol the phantom liberty expansion. they buffed the game by a lot and it's the reason the last gen consoles never got the DLC.

cyberpunk is a game that has constantly changed to add in new tech over the years, i guess they have just added so much to it now that it requires more power.

@beardalaxy I thought the new DLC was just new areas and quests, not content that would be running all the time.

@Jens_Rasmussen they've increased the fidelity of the game itself. it's honestly a miracle they got it running on the switch 2 at all lol.
