There are two main, major problems with generative AI, and they aren't really related to AI itself but how we as humans use it.
1) When it gets lumped in with everything else. I'm fine with websites having it and everything but when there is no way to filter it out, that makes the artwork done by humans harder to find. AI can be shat out at the speed of light and that can really clog up websites. I can definitely understand the frustration there, and I get frustrated when I'm trying to browse somewhere that doesn't have such filters because it makes it that harder to find stuff that isn't just AI slop.
2) Over-reliance on it. It is an extremely useful TOOL and it should be used as a TOOL. However, if you just let it do shit for you entirely, your own skills are not going to be increasing and in fact will be decreasing. Manipulating AI to do cool things for you in order to augment your existing skill set is cool, but if you're letting it just do everything for you then you may as well be losing brain cells. The other problem is also that it is not anywhere close to as good as you could be as a human, at least not at the moment, and it will hallucinate things and is easy to gaslight. Relying so much on AI and not double checking what it puts out and challenging it will make you DUMB AS FUCK.
I don't have an issue with gen AI existing at all, but it's far too powerful of a tool for people to be using the way they are using it lol.
It's really unfortunate that people will hear the letters "AI" and immediately flip their shit despite how it is being used. It's like a social thing now where if you like anything about AI you're an evil person or something and it's fucking annoying.
