Remember when the TruCrypt developers suddenly shuttered the project and told everyone to use BitLocker? Yeah this all but confirms the popular assumptions about why. https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2026/01/22/microsoft-gave-fbi-keys-to-unlock-bitlocker-encrypted-data/

@mitchconner I don't know why people are acting surprised that ms is giving the FBI data lmao like of course they are.

@beardalaxy Probably because Apple pretends they can't/won't. These people are gullible. I mean ffs, Antifa was still using Signal, I would say "are they stupid" but

@mitchconner i know dude when i saw they were using signal i snickered. no idea why people would ever use it over session.

@beardalaxy I feel like it's a very similar situation to how TruCrypyt was forced to shut down. TextSecure, the app that became signal, was originally an SMS app. You would exchange keys in person and then it would become your default MMS app. You could see a lock icon if it was encrypted. It was just sending the encrypted text plain over SMS, you could see it from start to finish.

Nah sure let's replace that brilliance with another how is this free trust me bro hosted app that routes everything through Google servers instead of plain clean PGP email style SMS messages.
