@RustyCrab my roommate will sometimes tell me the most crazy shit you've ever heard and i'm like "where did you hear that?" and he shows me an instagram reel of some guy spouting fake statistics while holding an unrelated book.
i've been trying to beat it into him that he actually needs to look up any dubious information he sees on the internet, but i'm beginning to think he really doesn't know what "dubious" even means.
@RustyCrab dude i could go on for hours about all the stupid shit he's done and i've only known him for two years, it's insane. like, i have no idea how he's actually made it this far.

@pettanko @RustyCrab i love it when it's like, people reading a headline and making up this insane story in their head and then people start sharing that guy's post and nobody thinks to check the original article. then you go and check the OP's twitter account and he's a schizo tranny or some shit like that.
But I think it's partly a technological issue too. A lot of the time these things are shared as screenshots instead of links or even text. So even if you want to look up the source, you can't just follow a link or right click->search text, you gotta do all the legwork yourself.
