@Druid I think the simple answer is that they are so rich they don't need to eat pleb food so they fucking hate it now. Kind of like dudes who have a top of the line PC setup and refuse to play on anything lesser or play anything that doesn't have amazing AAA graphics.

This is part of what irritates me. At some point, CEO became a position you could just get beceause you were CEO of another company. Before this Chris Kempczinski woked at pepsi co in "marketing for their non carbonated beverages" and before that he worked at proctor and gamble.

A CEO should be constantly engaging with the thing they're lording over. The CEO of a fast food chain should be familiar with the entire menu in more than just a performative way. Garuntee McDonalds and Burger king would change a lot if this were the case, but this isn't about burgers to them. It's just a really well paying job.

So they go to lunch at some gay little bistro that costs 1/3 of our normal paycheck to walk in the door and never touch "the poors food".
Remember the american way of doing business now is scamning and undercutting as much as you can within legal limits.

@ZRDR_DelRio @beardalaxy @Druid When you don't love the thing you make and sell, you neglect it, don't understand it, don't understand the people you're selling to, and ultimately have some measure of contempt for both your product and your customers.

Above and beyond the "Wokeness" factor, this is a big reason why so many movies and shows suck now. They are written, directed, and often acted out by people totally disconnected to how normal people live, aliens to the stories they are telling. The people who make modern Star Wars or Star Trek or almost any movie based on a pre-existing property, they don't love those properties. They never loved them as kids, never geeked out on all the little details, argued with their friends about the lore.

They're handed a property, told to make another movie on it, and all they have to work with is screaming leftist ideologies, vapid self referential life experiences, fragile egos, probably a nepo-baby background. These assholes in charge of these fast food chains treat their company as if it were no different than some no name factory cranking out post-it notes or bathroom fixtures or some other generic widget. They were never excited as a kid to get a stupid Happy Meal, probably never went to Pizza Hut back when it was a good experience. They were probably born to fairly well off parents, went to private schools, and never lowered themselves to eating at a fast food joint.

The only emotional attachment they might have to their own product and other products like it is a vague disdain. For them the burger or taco or whatever their company makes is a calculation on a spreadsheet, a widget, a set of numbers worked up by the marketing people. As emotionally inspiring and esoteric as a derivatives trade. They ultimately want to replace all workers with machines, because machines are cheaper, easier to replace, don't complain. Machines are predictable. You push button, machine works, thing gets done. I suspect somewhere, perhaps down at a level they're not consciously aware of, they would like machines to replace the customers as well.

We make product, we market product, you stupid plebs buy product. That's how this works. What are you proles complaining about? Buy the stupid fucking product. Consume generic burger. Consume generic movie. Listen to generic music. Vote for generic politician. Accept generic culture. That way line goes up. They don't know what they don't know, and they don't care that they don't know it. Creatures without passion, no music in their souls.
