The law is as follows;
>Live in Japan for 10 years
>Pay your taxes
>Don't commit any crimes
This is impossible apparently

@Shadowman311 I'm assuming that living in Japan for 10 years means that you need to be there on a work visa, or whatever the equivalent is (maybe military too? Idk how that works), because how else would you be living in Japan for 10 years without being a citizen?

Spousal visa? Refugee? Student visa (eternal student)?

I think military folks are counted as living in America because the land of a military base is considered US soil legally speaking

@beardalaxy @Shadowman311 Yes, you need to be on a work visa and housing etc needs to have a guarantor for non-citizens.

It's more or less slavery, as if the boss can decide to fire you for not obeying well enough and also kick you out of the country too.

Becoming a citizen requires revoking all other citizenship's and also making some proprietary pledge.

It doesn't make much sense to even become a citizen, as you get mostly the same result by becoming a permanent resident (as far as I can tell, the only difference in practice is that you can't vote, but regardless, the way voting is designed to work is to ensure your vote does not count).
