It was a long time before I realized what Miyazaki was trying to say when he called anime a mistake. I get it now.

@branman65 he is sad that the thing he finds so much joy and beauty in was commodified and turned into slop. i think many of us can relate to that feeling. he probably has a stricter definition on what "slop" is than a lot of us do but the spirit of the message remains.

>he spirit of the message remains.
No it doesn't. Miyazaki is an asshole who hates everything, he is a complete overrated hack. Myazaki is the anime director that gets meatridden by people who hate otakus and hate anime. He doesn't even give a shit about his own works, he refuses to rewatch them after his premier, he refuses to have any succession plans for his studio, despite knowing full well that when he dies Ghibli dies. He is no different than some boomer who blows his kids inheritance and says "oh well, I will be gone before that happens" when it comes to the future. Do you know that he once had a successor, but he worked him to death! He's a shitty father, too, if you know anything about that. I don't want to hear the words "joy" and "beauty" spoken about that man and his work ever again. If you want joy and beauty, watch moe. I care 100000000000000000 times more about moe than anything that man has ever put out.
The mistake was allowing Americans and Mexicans the ability to watch it
America is the only reason anyone cares about Miyazaki
