It's just to keep things dry, it absorbs water.
As long as you don't eat enough of it to dessicate your innards too much, it's fine

My vet just sells me drugs that I ask for, like antibiotics or stuff for ear mites.
I'm not going to take him to the vet over every little thing. I don't have money for that.
