@snapplo yeah and none of the people upset by it will ever try to do this on their own because they absolutely would not be able to lol. fuck, even if i had the ability to do it i don't think i'd have the willpower to stick with it. shit's still hard.
@beardalaxy The thing about so much of decomping and certain forms of emulation that aren't like... chip-level, is that a ton of it isn't necessarily tricky or confusing, it's just a ton of pretty simple stuff that you need to do meticulously over and over and over for each function surface.
We literally created a mechanical brain that can do that correctly 90% of the time without help or second tries, why would anyone throw it out? And these days, it's all just anti-AI but like... a lot of tasks, reasonably difficult ones, can be done on a beefy home system with Qwen 3.8 27B or similar open, local models. So you can't even really use the datacenter complaint.
