@dbattistella the logic of these companies makes no sense to me. Wouldnt selling a product for the rest of his life be more profitable than knowingly making the price unaffordable and him dying as a result?

@teto @dbattistella There will always be people who cannot afford the product, as companies optimize to increase profit.

The failure here is that of the state, that has a duty of care to its citizens, since the product in question is of a medical nature.

This is price gouging, and in some cases this can be actionable, people get sued for this sort of thing.
This definitely should be such a case.

@coded_artist @dbattistella america's history is the reason for this but "being more like europe" isnt gonna get you many voters. Just ask bernie
@MK2boogaloo @coded_artist @dbattistella I dunno if I had an illness that is 100 times cheaper to treat in a different country, I would unironically try moving there instead of just accepting death. Thats all I can really say
@teto @coded_artist @MK2boogaloo @dbattistella This guy accepted the risk of death instead of asking his doctor to confirm to insurance that he actually needed that particular medication. The price of the medication went up for him because his insurance company knows that there is a generic form available that isn't $600 and paying that is retarded.

Pharmacy saying there isn't a generic only means they don't stock the generic at that specific chain and he could have gone somewhere else. The guy is also a short drive from Canada and could have just got Canadian drug pricing if he absolutely had to.

@teto @dbattistella Bernie is a typical champagne socialist, and should be hung by the neck until dead.

America should not be more like Europe.
Europe is currently a dead horse in many respects, economically, militarily, technologically, and culturally.

With all the problems in the US medical system, and there are many, Brits and Canadians fly to the US to undergo surgeries, and cancer survival rates in the US are pretty good as well.
No system is perfect, and occasionally we hear about cases like this, which should be addressed, but overall the US has it pretty good.

@coded_artist @dbattistella Im not an Anglo and it's fine in Germany. My grandparents never complained and are generally in good hands. My dad has had a few surgeries for his eye recently and he didnt need to wait long nor pay any money for the surgeries and little to none for the meds.
@coded_artist @dbattistella im not gonna suck off my gov but the healthcare system is still working somehow. But in the long term we will become a communist state if the birthrates dont increase anymore. A good chunk of my salary goes to insurance that pays mostly for the elderly. When im their age there prob wont be enough young people to pay for me.

@teto @dbattistella I'm in the same boat, most countries are.
The welfare state is a mess.

@teto @dbattistella On the other hand, the US never had a mass rape event.
The are pros and cons to everything.

@coded_artist @dbattistella yes I also hate brown people. Unrelated topic. If I could Id kill everyone here who is browner than an italian

@teto @dbattistella LOL!
I would have them deported, not killed, because I like watching the funny videos of blacks failing at life, and chinks getting eaten by escalators.
