Nerd talk about parkour in different games, and fear of heights.

Just a quick observation, as I'm playing both Dying Light - The Beast, and Mirror's Edge - Catalyst.
(Abbreviated DL and ME respectively)

For reasons I can't quite put my finger on, jumping down from great height is more exhilarating/scary in DL, than it is in ME, significantly so.
DL has more details on the environment, but both convey a sense of depth very well, and I never miss a roll move when landing in either title.
Perhaps the fall speed is to blame?
Could it be sound design?
Maybe FOV?
Just looking down in DL is a bit scarier than in ME, so it can't be those... can't be sure though, could be an acquired sense after playing for a bit and experiencing the aforementioned elements.

I'm genuinely puzzled and intrigued by this phenomenon, as I've never really encountered anything like this.

I have fear of the deep.
And any game that's immersive enough evokes that feeling for me.
Doesn't take much to get me sweating, just 3D movement controls, low visibility, and a blue filter 😅.
From Morrowind to Subnautica, Grounded to Tchia .

I've never encountered something that is simultaneously immersive and not, in a very specific way.

Both are good games by the way.
I recommend.
