@galena that's the thing, because trap doesn't even refer to transgender people, but males with feminine traits, yet they deem it offensive to trans for some reason.

@hideki @galena the thing is it is offensive when trap is used to refer to a transgender person
but yeah trap for a crossdressing man is alright
@tuxcrafting @hideki It's transphobic to call a transwoman gay or a crossdresser or a man, too. That doesn't make any of those terms inherently transphobic.

@tuxcrafting @galena yeah but noone uses trap to refer to a transgender people at least in the anime-otaku context which i the case.

@hideki @galena i have definitely seen some people in these kinda communities use trap as a pejorative for a trans woman but yeah it doesn't warrant a blanket ban
@orekix @tuxcrafting @galena @hideki In a lot of places yes, *but*, it's sort of a word I feel strongly about because a lot of the invective attached to it by certain people is just that, *attached*. To sort of turn around to another example, the word "Jew" isn't a slur, right? It's a sociocultural identifier for a group of people coined and adopted by said group themselves. But the way a real, *actual* antisemite says the word "Jew", the utter venom you can feel dripping through them saying it? At that point, who needs slurs! I feel similarly here.
@hideki @tuxcrafting The issue is that many people redefine all traps to be transgender. It's especially common with Felix and Lukako, and was pretty common with Astolfo too.
@hideki Yeah. Exactly. Crossdressers aren't allowed to exist - their mere existence is declared transphobic, and they're bullied or manipulated into transitioning.
