@hideki It was my aunt, not the anime.
In '96 I had moved into an apartment that was next to my aunt and grandma.
My aunt who knew I really liked sailor moon invited me to watch anime that had been shown at the sci Fi anime block on cable at the time. I believe at the time she had asked me if had a problem with "adult content" but I watched pulp fiction and Robocop well before this so I was not concerned with it.
The ones she had taped were Roujin Z, Tenchi Muyo in love, and some other anime I can't remember. I do remember there was some bare booty in one.
It was after this point I really started to invest time in anime and Japanese culture. I didn't have regular interests after that point.
It was a year before my life was ruined by the anime sailor moon. So I remember those "pre-anime" years
During this time period a lot of the movies my parents liked started debuting around that time. This is when I was starting to go to blockbuster regularly to rent games and movies. It was of course around this time I was introduced to Earthbound, DKC and a lot of classic games during that time period. At night I used to stay up a lot to watch cable.
The area where I used to go to blockbuster was a very large mini mall that had a movie theater nearby. This was right after the biggest event of Arizonas history the NBA championship of the Suns Vs the Bulls in the first Barkley vs Jordan matchup before Space Jam, the Chaos Dunk incident. I used to eat at a sports themed sandwich shop. I used to get these bun wrapped hot dogs and key lime pies.
Next to the Blockbuster I used to go to there was an actual video game store. I had befriended the store owner at the time and knew his dad who also owned a "dos games" store.
1994 was a very busy year. But I didn't own a ps1 until the "after anime" years of 1996.
