@hideki The darker hair color Rei on the right definitely has more dimension than the lighter one.

Overall what happens here is that the original (the left one) is based on the look and colors of the movie, and for the new one i lifted the colors from the original anime, while trying to add a old-school bright streak to the hair.
@hideki @ademan @icedquinn I really think the color scheme from the original anime works much better to give Rei depth than the colors from the movie. Rei definitely looks more muted and 2D in the movie version.
