@matrix Nintendo is famously a coward on these issues, like virtually every japanese company is. They wouldn't understand they live high tech middle ages in japan.
@policeinchains I literally have no idea what's wrong with Nintendo saying it isn't canon. Maybe some people inserted a meaning into it that just wasn't there.
@matrix It's not just about this, Nintendo generally avoids controversy harder than they avoid giving discounts to games. They even avoid having crosses in games. They could've given Bowsette a place in Smash. Like that pirated Crash doll thing, it would be cheap and fans would like it.
@policeinchains
Yes you are right in that sense. Nintendo is trying too hard to avoid controversy, but they are getting better and are now less censorius than Sony, however that's not what these posts were about.
@matrix Nintendo still don't have gut to put a trans character in one of its games, let alone a fan creation. Or gay for that matter. Is there a gay character in a nintendo game? idk that.
@policeinchains
Does it really matter though? Most of the first party Nintendo games aren't story driven or barely rely on the story.
@matrix For me? No. Apparently some people care tho.
@policeinchains
Not having your fanfic turned into canon isn't transphobic though.
@policeinchains
Generally new first party franchises with new characters would be nice.
