@IsaacWestcott @matrix You might be able to afford not behaving in ways compliant with identity politics in a homogeneous society; but when diversity gets involved, it's only common sense: the faction that does not practise identity politics will get replaced in the long run by the one that does.

The only way to cut costs is to abolish licensing, or change it to allow far more doctors. Licensing strangles the supply and enables monopoly pricing.
But MUH SAFETY means that won't happen, so we're getting socialized medicine eventually.

Plenty of Nurse Practitioners are more than qualified to do a majority of the functions that a basic family doctor does. Malpractice insurance can be reworked to be something which may be purchased by the consumer, not something that MUST be purchased by the doctor, practitioner, or whoever. Pharmaceutical companies can not have to jump through the ridiculous loops necessary to certify new medicines.
Deregulation of these industries can occur. Giving into socialism because "it's inevitable" may be a short term strategy to win electorally, but it is not something that should be praised or embraced. It will not stop at simply socialized healthcare, it will grow and consume more and more.
