@matrix this one dug his grave and now he will have to LAY IN IT
@matrix That guy sounds like such a piece of shit. Typical male privilege demanding what little rights women have. One day we'll overcome this. Be better.
@rasterman @matrix

Wants to be treated equal to man.
"Becomes" man.
Is treated as man.
Wants to be treated as woman.
@IsaacWestcott @matrix Remember kids: beating up a female-to-male is no worse than beating up a man, lest you are considered a bigot. So punch hard. ðº
@matrix If we're being 100% real I feel like both paternity and maternity leave should be the same.
Like give them both the same 3 week period. That being said isn't being offered paternity leave what they want? And they supposed to be "male" now?
@comfy @matrix Physically it takes women longer to recover from giving birth. Though it is true that most of the leave in question is to take care of the newborn, which is something both partners participate a lot in. I'd probably prefer a situation where there's an allotment that's big enough for two people that can be split up between the partners however they want, or just be generous in the event of a single mother.
@ArdanianRight @matrix True. But I also feel like it should be the same length of time offered to either party, longer or shorter I don't care. Especially now that we have seen some people preferring a reversal where mom is a salarywoman and the man is taking up more of the child responsibilities.
@comfy @matrix I'd do 9 months of family leave that can be split between spouses however they want, which would allow for that particular option.
@ArdanianRight
Yuh I think that's the best idea going forward too, that way a single mom (or dad) can get more time off if needed, otherwise they can split it up evenly or whatever. But I feel like that would only work if it were the same company that both parents are working for, unless it's government mandated and tbh I don't like government control of anything unless it's actually necessary.
@comfy I have no real issue with a government mandate here because I think affordable family formation is a major issue that's important enough to merit government involvement for the sake of a healthy incentive structure.
@ArdanianRight Yeah in this case I think it's good. Like with how things are governments should be trying to promote families more, making it easier for people to work and support their kids. Especially where I live it's already hard enough as it is to make ends meet, throw a kid into the mix and it'd be impossible unless the dad was really fucking rich.
@comfy It's not healthy for society if the only people who can afford to reproduce are rich people and welfare dependents.
