@ocean @lain @mono 21st-century "journalists" dont understand anything other than how to generate clicks on their articles. they dont care about the truth, they care about money. why would they bother describing gab correctly

@opal
I would argue that has always been the case and click bait has always existed in the form of the kid selling newspapers screaming the titles.
Although it seems that the trend has gotten worse in the last decade or so.

@matrix @lain @mono @ocean sensational news *titles* are one thing, but it's another entirely to fill your actual article with blatant lies
@matrix @lain @mono @ocean propaganda has always existed too, but i don't see this reminiscent in journalism. same effect but different motive behind it

@opal @ocean @mono @lain @matrix Did the current trend with news/infotainment start with people like Roger Ailes/Rupert Murdoch, or does it predate the crazy Aussie+Ohioan? Like before our modern Internet/click-bait era, I realize a lot of our news was also a big chunk of propaganda, but how did we get from there to click-bait? You can't click through newspapers? Was it purely the medium of the web, or did we have other predispositions that made it easy to toss out unresearched rubbish?
