With Mastodon it's a bit more obvious because Mastodon saves remote media and then serves it.

@wowaname @matrix thanks to this public option I removed now all the instances that were in my 'remove from federated timeline' policy. The only reason they were in there was my paranoia that a growing agent might see their posts without having to log in :diaSweat:

Im not sure though if this only counts for big platforms like facebook. Would be pretty hilarious to receive a million euro fine for a post from another instance haha... ha
