@maxim @matrix Incorrect. You THINK you eat a lot, but lard-asses actually consume much more, and more often. Even then your story does not overwrite science. Again, you cannot deny thermodynamics.
@Kro @maxim @matrix Amount eaten doesn't determine fat production you mong.
@DA70D6 @matrix @maxim Yes it does, you mong. If you're fat, you're eating too much. This is not difficult. Again, you cannot disprove thermodynamics. If your body does not expend all that fucking energy, it's going to store it as fat.
@Kro @matrix @maxim "Amount Eaten" is a completely useless statistic by itself, it doesn't even form a metric. You could easily get fat without a bad diet just like you can not be fat with a horrid overconsuming one.
@DA70D6 @matrix @maxim A basd diet still consists of too much. The reason you see people thin off eating nothing but carbs, sugar, and fat is because they do not eat enough of it to get fat. It's that simple. Malnutrition is another matter, but in terms of weight, it's eating too much.

@Kro
It's how much you eat compared to your energy output. A miner needs more food to stay the same than a basement dwelling NEET.
@DA70D6 @maxim

@matrix @Kro @DA70D6 @maxim If you don't take into account preexisting medical conditions like thyroid disfunction and diabetes, pretty much.
@nerthos @matrix @DA70D6 @maxim Even those two are over-exaggerated. Hell, diabetes does not affect weight much at all and people with either hypo or hyperthyroid conditions can readjust their diets rather easily as well. Those conditions do nothing more than move the bar of what is too much. At the end of the day, the reason for being fat is still eating too much.
@Kro @DA70D6 @matrix @maxim Well yeah, you can adjust for it, but it still skews the effort/gain ratio.

Some people are born less fortunate than others, physically.

@nerthos
I mean you are right, but I doubt that 33% of the US has those conditions. You can also get diabetes from eating too much.
@DA70D6 @Kro @maxim

@matrix @DA70D6 @Kro @maxim One type, yes. I can't remember which is which.
The US is absolutely irrational in regards to food, I won't argue it. I like that they have proper portions when you eat out and even if you tend to eat a lot you won't need to order three plates, but a lot of people there don't stop when they've hit their body's needs.

@nerthos
I too forget which one is which. The point I tried to make with that example is that most fat people aren't fat because of a medical condition.
@DA70D6 @Kro @maxim

@matrix @DA70D6 @Kro @maxim Oh, absolutely. Past 25 you absolutely need to take care of how much energy you spend if you want to keep eating like a pig.
@nerthos @matrix @DA70D6 @maxim Past being born, you mean. Developing a lifestyle as a child is what creates who you are in later years. Any parent that neglects his child's diet deserves to have that child taken away.
@Kro @DA70D6 @matrix @maxim Well yeah, you aren't supposed to feed your kid on cheetos and oreos

What I meant is that past 25 your metabolism changes. I didn't go above ~80kg until turning 26 regardless of how much I ate. Now I'm around 90kg, way more muscle, but also need to work out a bit to not develop a belly. Still eat like a beast though, and couldn't go above 100 unless I started to chug pure grease.
@matrix @nerthos @DA70D6 @maxim It's simple to me because I see both so often. Type 1 is more likely inherited, type 2 is more likely created. A family history of diabetes is usually connected to both, but in type 2's case, I notice those people tend to simply follow the same bad diets and lifestyles their parents did. Not disregarding it entirely, but man is it sad. Type 2 CAN be avoided.
