MPEG-2 at 8000kb/s is still fucking garbage
H264 at that bitrate is a godsend compared to it.
No wonder TV looks like shit, when it uses MPEG-2.

@matrix It's worse. Proprietary as fuck, 5 figure yearly licensing fees, absolute ass bitrate, and it gets worse if you split it between subchannels.
