An aside: I wish people would stop saying "software has $feature" without qualifying what that feature actually is. For example, gab groups are just non federating hidden hashtags. Same goes for quotes, which don't federate either. Or all of the million features that misskey has

gab groups are more than just non federating hidden hashtags. It is crucially paired with a special frontend. In fact, it's this frontend that is being called groups.
Users in general do not usually make points about the backend. Feature requests such as emoji reacts and groups are frontend features so it is not fair to propose that something like gab groups which involves a nontrivial frontend edit is merely some backend hidden hashtag.
