@VD15 Is that a new spawner texture?

@VD15 I checked the wiki and it was changed in 1.14. It looks pretty nice.

@matrix I find it surprising how long most of the original textures remained. I mean netherrack looked like a bloodied ass for most of the game’s history. Though I’m pleased they managed to retain the aesthetic of the original textures while making them look a lot better.

@VD15 I play mainly modded Minecraft so I'm on 1.12, so I haven't really seen the new textures, but from some quick glances, they look pretty clean.

@matrix I know people who are the same. The laptop I brought home with me can barely scrape 60 on vanilla, so I’m probably not going to be playing modded for a while.

@VD15 Minecraft got a lot harder to run throughout the years. Modded is even worse. 8GB of RAM is probably a minimum for any decent modpack.

@matrix @VD15 Speaking of mods, you see the raytracing mods? (The fan one not the RTX one) It makes things so pretty, really aids in the immersion.

@matrix @VD15 The colest thing is the subtle way things are lit at night by things like lava.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Looks amazing. I can't wait to try it out once I build my new rig.

@VD15 @matrix Wasn't most of what was made supposed to be placeholders but then Notch got lazy and decided to hide behind the "b-but it's iconic now!" defense?
@matrix @VD15 I remember very distinctly that the original textures and Steve were placeholders that he just crudely made while supposedly worked on the real assets but I don't remember at what point he actually gave up on it, if it was still in alpha or late beta. Everyone forgets just how lazy that motherfucker actually was just because everything pre 1.8 beta was kino as fuck

@comfy @matrix would explain why the old texture pack is labeled ‘programmer art’ in 1.14+ versions
