This makes me want to post a retarded picture I saw at Gab today; but I didn't save it. It was something about putting Zoomers in a room with a rotary dial phone and analogue TV to watch them freak out not knowing how to use it. Some sort of 50 IQ Boomer fantasy where they get off from watching younger people struggle with old technology they never taught them how to use.

One could also deduce from that image that all Boomers can offer society, according to themselves, is knowledge in operating technology from the time they were young.

I wanted to start shit over it; but I'm still traumatised from years ago, when I spent a Sunday afternoon debating religion with a dude, only to then find out he was a creationist flat earther.
@rasterman I developed my abrupt style to abort such conversations in the womb. Cut to the chase, ask intrusive questions, block those who evade.
@judgedread @rasterman Those morons have been posting things like that since day 1.

I'd love to show a picture of the outside world to every boomer on gab and ask them to describe what the fuck they're looking at.
@l0wk3y @rasterman The weird aspect of rotary dial is it had absolutely no advantages. Graphic interfaces on computers, to pick one contentious technological advance, are a mixed blessing. Touch tone dialing was unambiguously superior. It's like pining for the days before dentistry. Oh wait, some of these idiots do that too.
@judgedread @rasterman Iirc touch-tone was available in towns and cities when I was a kid but if you were out in the country you needed to use a rotary. That was the only time I ever saw one.

As for dentistry I think that boat sailed for most of those mutants.
@l0wk3y @rasterman I know it was a big deal for the adult diaper gang when rotary dial was finally shut down entirely.
@judgedread @rasterman It's some kind of coping mechanism to do the "millennials won't recognize x" thing. Watching those idiots try to use the self checkout at the grocery store is like watching a monkey attempt physics.

I'm sure there's a snowy barn somewhere with a rotary phone. Thats boomer valhalla.
@l0wk3y @rasterman A snowy barn for them to have a heart attack in trying to start their chainsaw.
@judgedread @rasterman They do like to post pictures of their wood piles. I'm assuming they just have that delivered though.

When the last boomer croaks I'm throwing a massive block party to celebrate.
@l0wk3y @rasterman 2074 is a long way off. That's when the final boomers turn 110, and it's probable a few will make it that far.
@judgedread @rasterman Not if we help them along.

Honestly though, I'm just looking forward to them being mostly out of the government. If for nothing else so I don't have to listen to them talk.

Watch the C-span coverage of any hearing regarding the tech industry if you want to be utterly horrified.
@l0wk3y @rasterman They will lose all power long before they're all dead. The last boomers are now in their peak earning years, which will end by 2022. After that it's all mobility scooters and medical care.
@judgedread @rasterman Yeah that we get to pay for.

I swear every time I see some obese diabetic on on of those things I just want to flip it over.
@judgedread @rasterman America is going to be paying for those assholes for the next 200 years.
@l0wk3y @rasterman No, we will default on the national debt rather than pay for them.
@judgedread @rasterman I rather default than give them anymore entitlements.

Unfortunately they would be the reason for said default in the first place.

Real patriots they are.
@l0wk3y @rasterman They will keep ratcheting up the retirement age in the out years. Euthanasia is coming as well.
@judgedread @rasterman Any Somalian health care worker that suffocates a boomer with a pillow should given a green card.

Prove your worth!
