@matrix I remember asking one of those "TRANS PEOPLE ARE GETTING KILLED!!!" hysteripeople if they knew how many trans people had been murdered that year. They said "HUNDREDS!!!" so I looked up the answer for them, and it was 18, which is far less than a hundred. Then i asked them if they could name a single one of the 18 victims that year. They could not. This was 2012 or 2013, back when I cared.

This year, the number of trans people who have been murdered is 24. Most of the victims were involved in high-risk activities like prostitution or drugs, including two who died while in police custody or shortly thereafter, and one who died in a mass shooting in which 8 other victims were killed as well. One victim was even admittedly still in the closet about their trans status, so it's unlikely to be a contributing factor in their murder. Imho close to 0 of these people died because of trans hate, but rather as a consequence of their own risky behavior or from simply living in high crime areas where hundreds of other people were murdered this year as well. It's a bunch of bullshit, basically, and it always has been, since the day it became a meme.
