Why are there so many fediverse instances crawling my domain

@wizard Mastodon making preview cards maybe?

@matrix For some reason they're trying to figure out if I'm an instance or not

I don't think this sort of behavior would be if they were trying to make preview cards, but what do I know

@wizard @matrix have you ever used a mastodon on that domain or something?
@href @matrix I figured it out, it's the test instance I forgot I'm running lmao
@href @matrix Both sites aren't set to log to different files, I think I'm going to change that rn

@wizard @matrix haha :) or put the request host in the useless “-“ field in apache log format, like this:

log_format main '$remote_addr:$remote_port $host $remote_user [$time_local] "$request" $status $body_bytes_sent "$http_referer" "$http_user_agent" $request_time';

shouldn’t break any log parser while still giving more useful info

@href @matrix I just split the log files in the server blocks entirely, once I get centralized logging up and running then I might reconsider the way I'll tackle it

Mainly gaming/nerd instance for people who value free speech. Everyone is welcome.
