Where do all these people who say liberalism is about equality fucking come from? I'm assuming the US and it's broken education system.

I'm talking about American "liberalism". The problem is that the cultural influence of the US spread it everywhere.

Yes. Most of the policies aren't really liberal.

It's a pretty complex series of events that caused it. They date back to WW1 with Woodrow Wilson I think.
Anyway, it ended up with actual conservatives and classical liberals becoming a more or less unified force against the so called progressives.
Recently, the spouting of equality has been a thing because of the democratic party's focus on "marginalized" groups.
As it stands right now, both parties want to increase the size of government. Where they differ is that the "liberals" want to increase the welfare state faster than the warfare state, with the "conservatives" wanting the reverse.
And like I say, they use equality as the reasoning for this.
"Well this group has traditionally been disadvantaged, let's make 14 bureaus, and throw billions of dollars at it, because everyone needs to be 'equal' both of opportunity and outcome"
It's bizarre.
