I remember when I was in the hospital hospitalised as a kid, there was a smart TV on the free public wifi. I never tried connecting to it though.

usually they want you to download their app and do pairing verification process, but YouTube want to be as frictionless as possible.

I think you need to confirm a pop up every time an unknown device tries to connect. I'm not sure though, we don't have a smart TV.

I've tried it on the ones at the electronics store and it wasn't necessary. Probably I just got lucky. Also my phone does have an IR blaster so yeah that's added fun.
