There are reasons to watch someone else play. Like if you know that the person is really bad with horror games, and you want to see him crap his pants. You're basically drawing entertainment from seeing someone else in misery.

I didn't win anything tbh. I'm not the kind of person to follow let's plays. I've watched the original Last of Us, because the game looked interesting and I didn't have a Playstation and I've watched Markiplier play DeadSpace, because it's one of my favorite franchises and I loved to see him struggle.
But I still understand why people can enjoy it more than I do.
