ok everyone, I need your help.
I'm in the market for a new laptop. I'm planning to run Linux on it, so I'd like it to be decently well-supported and shipping with Windows is not a necessity.
I'd like to spend ~$1000 but that can be increased a bit if necessary.
I'd like something that can handle recent games, programming, compiling, etc (so probably ~16GB of RAM, some sort of GPU, etc). A disk drive would also be nice, and SSD is pretty much necessary.
Any ideas?

@matrix that seems decent. more RAM would be nice but it ticks the other boxes (except for CD/DVD drive but like, how realistic is that)
