@matrix "The should not"
They've nice proofreading.

@matrix Because there's no penalty for them doing so. What are we going to do about it? When they're all in sync doing the same thing, "voting with your wallet" doesn't do much good.
@matrix @kline
Care is not the right word. The political stances don't directly affect the consumer so there's no resistance in getting the product.

Comic book industry is a good example. Comics could fully support Trump or fire all the soys tomorrow and it won't improve anything because nobody buys things based on the politics or even from the quality.

Like the 180 public support backlashes are rare. Consumers will slowly stop buying products until nobody left. With comics quality dipped, politics stopped offering things consumers wanted because of sjw reasons, and they stopped using customer feedback to improve the product. This is why manga succeeds when western comics fail because nothing is really preventing anyone to get a manga they want.

So it's not that they care more like the people who give feedback and complaints are a small minority. Vast majority will just move on and years later not know why they stopped buying X product.
@matrix @kline Yeah, it's a low cost move that is risky not to make. People who don't want you to take a position don't punish you for taking one anyway, as long as you keep it to a few decorations and to social media. At worse they'll think it's stupid and pandering, but they ignore it as long as it doesn't creep into the products. People who do want it absolutely do punish you for failing to do it.
@guizzy @matrix @kline yes, they're actually coming after any organization that -doesn't- make a statement supporting BLM.

It's disgusting to see all the dominos fall over out of fear. This is how violence wins the day. Now they get to live in fear, under ever-increasing demands of them, until they collapse.

Bending the knee isn't the end of being threatened, it's the beginning of being enslaved by the threatener. They'll take everything.

It's social Danegeld.
@matrix 18-24 year olds are the biggest loudest retards
@matrix Just abolish all kinds of privately owned companies and unify everything, then there's no brands which can't take a side on political issues because all of them are the government
@matrix I suppose they think it's a rising trend amongst younger people. It would be interesting to see this question charted over time, to see if it's an idea young people grow out of, or if it's a generational change.
@matrix because paying customers are no longer their audience.

customers are over. they're probably racist, too. Just selling stuff that people want to buy is evil, don't you know.

No, they have transcended the profit motive and have taken their rightful place as corporations should, as our moral guides.

I, for one, welcome our corporate moral superiors! Multinational megacorporations have always been beacons of morality that we should allow ourselves to be guided by in our life and political decisions!
