@lj_writes Partly the devs and partly history, basically. The developers are all connected to chan culture to various degrees (kawen has an actual history of racism, iirc, while Iain is just too willing to ignore unpleasantness) and the early install base was mostly people who got kicked off niu.moe during the initial influx, which shaped the culture. And the software’s lightweight and easy to install on a small server, which makes it good for popups.
