They didn't check our passports or Covid passes when they saw the handicapped sign on the car.

That's almost all airports that I've experienced, except for Australia.
And I carried knives and other kind of product that would be seized or destroyed if they had controlled me.

I rarely experience such leniency. Yeah, you get preferential treatment but they still do all the security checks. At Brno airport they even x-rayed my wheelchair.
The only other time when I was let in without a security check was at the Tower in London. Everyone got a bag search and pat down. I got neither and I was wearing a jacket so thick you could hide an assault rifle underneath it.
