If you insist on using a hard G in gif because of the hard G in graphics, you also must pronounce SCUBA as something more like scuh-baa, as it stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
@matrix Russian and Polish translate it with their hard g letters. I trust their discretion. 
@matrix I agree, but I pronounce Gib as ghib and not Jib. I wonder if that makes me a hypocrite
