Agency and personal responsibility is a lost virtue in this modern age, where as now we play number games and treat people as statistics. This is a major issue in multiple areas of society which is why I'm actually trying to come at this perspective from an unbiased position.
A major issue in most rhetoric and social policy is that academia-type statements and papers and what other else have you are "gospel" as nick puts it. You can't even have a proper debate in an open chat-forum about unfalsifiable topics anymore without some 99head coming in and trying to DEBOONK your mutual hypothesis craftings with a fucking wikipedia article and 20 completely unrelated STOODIES that only in passing address a mere portion of what you were going on about in an effort to tie existing ideas together in new ways, but hey, can't have that because it's not PEER REVOOWED.
Academia-mentality garnished with college culture has poisoned scientific debate and research, along with social policy debates and organized consensus being polluted by pearl-clutching has-beens who's entire career is debasing alternative, potentially unorthodox, but fully plausible ideas simply due to those ideas potentially discrediting big names and thus damaging the ego and reputation of those in charge.
