@matrix i always thought the mansplain thing was from when people just assumed anything that is a woman is retarded without any actual other cause :blobcatwut:

@icedquinn

Mansplaining is when someone explains something logically and concisely and a person is so triggered and lacks any sense of humility that instead of admitting they could learn something they try to place the sex-card and start needless drama.

@matrix

@freemo @matrix i dunno i've definitely seen that old condescension in the south where mechanics are like "aw, sweety don't worry about how cars work you're a woman :blobfoxsmug:"

but like everything the sentiment has been clowned.

@icedquinn

If that was legit what mansplaining was used for I wouldnt really mind, even maybe support the term. But like you said its pretty just used anytime someone feels triggered at this point, which is always

@matrix

@icedquinn @matrix @freemo Yeah, that's not mansplaining at all, that's just -- as you accurately placed it -- condescension. You can understand the meaning of mansplaining by the word itself: man + explaining. It involves actually EXPLAINING something, which would be the opposite of what you just described ("don't worry about it, woman, this is man business"). It is used when women feel inferior because they have to be explained to about something that they are unfamiliar with.

It has not "been clowned". It was clowned from the start.
@freemo @icedquinn @matrix Transplaining is when I get lectured about ridiculous notions of gender apropos of absolutely fucking anything important.
