Here's one absolute truth I know about the fedi.

Bigots have more support and acceptance than progressive, and forward-thinking people do. There is a reason so many Black and Brown instances have come and gone, but the domains on many blocklists are so consistent.

No technology on Earth can fill that gap.

With so many new people coming in, the fedi is at a crossroads and needs to decide what kind of culture it wants.

Either it's going to be a space where bigots feel comfortable, or it's going to be a place that actively supports new and fresh ideas where people from any background can come and find community.

It cannot be both.

@Are0h The "bigoted" instances sometimes have to fight hosts or registrars while the only thing you have to fight is slurs on your screen. This speaks more about your weaknesses than about your enemies strengths.

@matrix @Are0h
Also, if you don't like what you see, you have filtering tools available to you as a user. If you don't have that with your particular instances implementation, they you aren't using a good one, in which case, switch to pleroma and take advantage of filters.

Sorry to say, I think that you're wasting your electrons there, chief. Are0h is a tediously predictable grievance-monger who's long been about as concerned with the truth as Al Sharpton. Just look at his history.

Like Kanye with fewer excuses for his stupidities, less money, and as far as I can tell, less talent.
@Koekepan @matrix @Are0h
I get that, I just wanted to stroke my own ego by stating the obvious and getting 4+ people hitting that favorite button.
@JustJohnny @matrix @Are0h @Suzu it's surreal that the covid masks have become so entwined with people's self-perception that they actually add them to cartoon avis of themselves
@matrix @Are0h

Oh, isn't that one asshole that had that one instance?

It's ironic that he talks about "feeling comfortable" when I caught the dude several times talking shit to some users that I've never seen do anything wrong
@matrix @coolboymew @Are0h wasn't it rage.love ? definitely remember this exact user being a racial supremacist, lying about reasons for instance blocks, and spreading fud about innocent people. Once argued with a trans woman and a cis lesbian about how their opinions didn't matter because they were perceived to be white. Sad part is, the entire conversation was just him being extremely hostile for absolutely no reason and them just asking legitimate questions or taking the conversation seriously. Every ridiculous leap of logic lead to another ridiculous leap of logic, all the while being very accusatory, rude, dismissive, holier than thou, and generally an asshole.
@matrix @coyote @Are0h I didn't know if there as multiple instances, but I remember play vicious
Yeah, it was called playvicious.social, I think.

Here's the sentence he wrote in his post that I found the most contradictory
> Either it's going to be a space where bigots feel comfortable, OR it's going to be a place that actively supports new and fresh ideas where people FROM ANY BACKGROUND can come and find community.

In other words, inclusivity for some, not for all. What a hypocrit :ablobrollingeyes:
@coolboymew @matrix @Are0h
@coolboymew @Economic_Hitman @Are0h @matrix We're an inclusive community of free-thinkers who welcome all ideas and discussions, apart from the ones we don't like.
@coolboymew @matrix @Are0h Oh, you mean they don't actually believe in the things they say when it comes to their opposition?

It's almost like we should adopt a similar mindset.
It's really almost like that would be a smart thing to collectively get on, that we treat our people good, and we treat these people like dogshit because they're not worth morals or logic.
@Eschatology @matrix @Are0h It's said it times and times again, basically, the people who hate/are most fearful of "racists/white supremacists" are basically completely at fault for their recent rise in numbers because they just can't help but drop their spaghetti and discriminate against people who didn't do shit

The current popular "progressive" mindset is totally fucking retarded. "Some people (their several favored groups) were oppressed at some point in time, so that means it's THEIR time now, and if you don't like it fuck off, you're in the way and it doesn't matter if we shit up the landscape and a lot of innocent people who had fuck all to do with it get caught into it as people were bigots in the past" is basically asking for a backlash
@coolboymew @matrix @Are0h The way I see it, these roaches deserve to be hated.
You're absolutely right about them believing that it's "their time now."
@Eschatology @matrix @Are0h it's not quite me "believing", it's pretty much what's been said by people knee deep in this shit very recently, which is in reason I'm so fucking mad. Politics is absolutely fucking garbo because of this constant egotist bullcrap, the "activists" are complete retards, and if they aren't, they're profiteers that ends up excused with a "b-b-b-but we've had a conversation" and this bullcrap ad nauseam
