@matrix it ain't. capitalism is a market economy with private ownership of companies/the means of production, socialism is any economy where workers have ownership of companies/the means of production. a democratic workplace is socialism :kXO:

@meso What the tweet describes is bartering, which is just voluntary exchange of goods and labor without any abstract medium in between.
Capitalism doesn't contradict with worker ownership of the means of production, while socialism necessitates enforcement of democratic workplaces. The tweet describes no such enforcement mechanism.
This is fundamentally in no way different to a capitalist (baker) giving money (cake) to a worker (carpenter) for work (fixing the door).
