@Ottovonshitpost @matrix I don't mind magical observer translation, as long as it doesn't cause ambiguity with the languages actually being spoken. They *could* have just shuffled the languages around a bit, but if the Japan arc is unmistakeably Japan then it's fine as it is.
Relevant: Gate JSDF, which as far as I can tell plays with alternate pronunciations of kanji for isekailang. Tokyo Mew Mew which actually just has some characters speak English in the original. The dub of it is actually also relevant because of that, they just made those characters speak uhhh, French I think it was. The dub still sucked ass, that was just a neat bit. (And AFAIK it's entirely inconsequential.)
US VAs still manage to fuck everything up.
Also pet hate for isekais that give MC automagical translation and then have honoriffic shenanigans.
