I could make a GBA game and give it to a publisher to publish, that is a possible thing I could do. But it would probably take more than a year to see any money and dealing with a publisher means you have to follow their rules.
@i@matrix I don't want to rent seek. I just don't think there's a big enough market for a new GBA game to make the money I think I could make with a Steam game or something.
@sun@i@matrix The model I've seen is to release the game on modern platforms, but then also sell a retro cartridge for those who want it. That is the release strategy for the new angry video game nerd nes game.
@i@matrix ok I said I don't want to rent seek but if you tie your game to online content (in a non-exploitative way, it's possible) then it's harder to pirate.
@i@matrix it's really just the audience. I am exaggerating a little. I still wouldn't do really awful stuff but like, you can paywall stuff easier, crypto people WANT TO PAY
