I would never buy a car. it's way too fast. you cannot ensure safety going faster than walking pace. we had horses for centuries and we were doing just fine. people might arrive at places faster than if they went by horse, but the price for the environment is just too high burning fossil fuels! it's highly immoral and despicable. that's why I hate AI... I mean cars.

The problem with mass transit is that under like 300km, even a well built network, will always be slower and less convenient than a car unless you purposely cripple or underbuild your road network.
@matrix @hakui @kaia @mangeurdenuage idk have you ever dealt with commutes in the US? I can’t even walk to places less then a mile from me evacuate there are no crosswalks and stop lights are built for pedestrians. It takes around 40 minute to an hour to drive 18 miles during commute hours. Plus you miss out on a ton of socializing as a young person as no one wants to wait 30 minutes for you to drive to them whenever they plan something and you can’t drink much if you need to drive back anyway.

@KaiserKitty @kaia @mangeurdenuage @hakui No. The US is a bit of a extreme case where simply way too many people drive and in general you design your infrastructure in a very retarded ways, but that doesn't sound much longer than here. In a morning rush hour 13km takes about 30-40min by car, 15min without traffic. Mass transit takes 45min either way simply because it doesn't go p2p and I have to transfer.
