Today, I learned that people fiercely debate if the country Georgia is European or Asian. I always assumed it was Asian.

I think the main issue with some is that when they think "Asia" they don't think geographically but culturally and associate it with China, Japan, etc.
@publiclewdness That or India. The Middle East and Persia for that matter. The Caucasus are always a debate. Most people here would consider Turkey and Azerbaijan to be Asian, but they would debate if Georgia and Armenia were Asian.
