Anyone still using Windows deserves what they get. Lots of good alternatives.
My way of looking at it is different. Privacy and security are my top two priorities. I pick my hardware and OS based around that and my budget and then adjust my applications as needed.
@publiclewdness @Dan_Ramos We're also fortunate to have available high speed, high capacity removable bootable and optionally encrypted media that can travel with you and be used on just about any modern commodity PC, laptop, tablet or phone. I recently got a 2 TB SSD USB3 for less than $200 and it is faster than my four-year old internal 1 TB SSD.
@publiclewdness @Dan_Ramos You may have guessed that my answer originates from the old-school mainframe acolyte mentality where interoperability with other parties already running established vendor locked in software is often an overriding concern. I agree that privacy and security are high on the list and we are fortunate to have so many open source choices these days.
