The people involved in the death of #GeorgeFloyd got charged last night!
I'm guessing today is a celebration for another step towards justice for the rest of y'all #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd peeps, right?
I know it is for me.
@msaunders I know people want a premeditated murder change but that would be hard to prove
Either way he's probably gonna be put away for life
@msaunders @realcaseyrollins 1st degree means premeditation like they planned the killing out for some time, 2nd is like, you came across a guy and gladly killed him but you didnt plan it all out.
@msaunders @realcaseyrollins idk, but i think 2nd degree murder fits the crime and its what they deserve. I think it would be impossible to get a 1st degree charge on this. 2nd degree murder isnt like manslaughter or something, its a pretty serious punishment that can carry life.
@msaunders @realcaseyrollins actual change isnt gonna happen with convictions. The system is irreparably fucked and the nature of the position itself is prone to violence. Maybe an armed civilian militia in every city would actually solve the problem, if people werent scared for their lives and freedom, hell if a couple of responsible gun owners were there with a just legal system george floyd would be alive, the officers around him would all be in the hospital with bullet wounds.
But i dont think there is any chance at justice as long as this systems in tact, just momentary bouts of catharsis.
@realcaseyrollins We'll have to see how it plays out.
Still pretty sure the lax 2nd degree _unintentional_ murder charge is not strong enough.
I'm in the process of watching the footage and want to throw up.
Pretty clear he intended to kill.
If that video doesn't prove deliberated murder, I don't know what does.
