@nik @Mitsu Yeah I think it's kind of a Christianity thing, don't break the law, etc. Otherwise I definitely would've at least tried alcohol by now.

@nik @Mitsu

Basically we're still called to obey the law so long as the law doesn't compel us to sin.

Romans 13:1-5 in NKJV:

"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will [a]bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake."

This is a good passage to remember while thinking about Earthly authority: "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Render_unto_Caesar
@realcaseyrollins @Mitsu this seems to be quite absolute, does this mean that one must also listen to tyrannical oppressive governments?
@realcaseyrollins @Mitsu "Whenever a government compels you to sin, or prevents you from doing something that is required by God."

so that means that if someone in the government is being evil at you, there's nothing you should do?

@nik
It depends on the tyranny. Hebrews 10:25 says "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." and there are many Christians who think lockdown laws that kept them from going to church put them at odds with this. Others think doing service online is a good enough substitution.
